Nick believes that each of us possesses the tools to improve our lives. He prioritizes teamwork with clients, as well as cultural sensitivity and proficiency with EMDR. Nick creates a sense of safety with clients and believes in instilling a genuine sense of hope when working with people. Nick specializes in working with empaths (people who feel their emotions or the emotions of others very deeply) and people who feel “cut off” from their emotions but have something they want to process. He also enjoys working with adults in their 20s and 30s who live with anxiety, depression, and/or trauma, and specializes in incorporating EMDR into his therapy.
Nick earned his master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University ofWisconsin-Stout and completed his EMDR training through the EMDR Institute. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, he facilitated anxiety and panic disorder support groups through NAMI Minnesota. He also deeply enjoyed counseling college students during his master’s practicum at UW-Eau Claire. Before becoming a therapist, Nick was an elementary school teacher in South Korea and an outdoor educator here in Minnesota.
In his free time, Nick enjoys playing Magic the Gathering, going to the gym, reading mystery and fantasy books, and spending time with his friends, family, and two cats. Nick’s favorite outdoor activity is mountain hiking, and he loves sailing. Nick is completing his hours for LPCC licensure under Brownell Hilger, LICSW and Tara Lemke Ebenhoch, LMFT.
